No special tools are needed. There are no moving parts. A basic drill or screw gun will do the job. The vinyl is pressed down by hand, wrinkle free, onto the adhesive base plate of the frame. When the cover plate is put in place, the vinyl will stretch slightly more, until "tight as a drum" is achieved. The cover plate fits snugly onto the base plate, locks into place and is then secured by screws.
